Kevin Shushtari is a practicing physician who received an MD from Dartmouth Medical School before studying at BU.\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/readmeridian.org\/?p=520\"> Meridian<\/a><\/em>, the Semi-Annual from the University of Virginia, awarded him the 2011 <a href=\"http:\/\/readmeridian.org\/?p=520\">Editors\u2019 Prize<\/a> for his story \u201cIllegal Dreams.\u201d He was also the winner of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glimmertrainpress.com\/writer\/html\/index2.asp?action=finalists\">July 2010 <em>Glimmer Train<\/em> Very Short Fiction Award<\/a> for his story, \u201cThe Vast Garden of Strangers\u201d and is a recipient of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vermontstudiocenter.org\/vsc-announces-new-forugh-farrokhzad-fellowship\/\">Forugh Farrokhzad Fellowship Award<\/a> given by the Vermont Studio Center.
