{"id":1871,"date":"2015-04-24T12:46:39","date_gmt":"2015-04-24T16:46:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/crwr\/?p=1871"},"modified":"2015-06-05T12:32:19","modified_gmt":"2015-06-05T16:32:19","slug":"tara-skurtu-receives-fulbright-publishes-new-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/crwr\/2015\/04\/24\/tara-skurtu-receives-fulbright-publishes-new-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Tara Skurtu receives Fulbright, publishes new work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/crwr\/files\/2015\/04\/Tara-Skurtu-author-photo-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/crwr\/files\/2015\/04\/Tara-Skurtu-author-photo-2.jpg\" alt=\"Tara Skurtu author photo-2\" width=\"314\" height=\"419\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1873\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Exciting\u00a0news from Tara Skurtu (poetry &#8217;13), who has been awarded a Fulbright to Romania for the 2015-2016 academic year! \u00a0Tara will be\u00a0reading her work at the\u00a0<span>International Poetry Festival in Sibiu, Romania this September with Robert Pinsky and Lloyd Schwartz (her former teachers!).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0She&#8217;ll spend the rest of her time\u00a0teaching ESL at the\u00a0<span>University of Transylvania in Brasov<\/span>\u00a0and giving poetry and translation workshops to young Romanian writers.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Tara&#8217;s poem, &#8220;Derivatives,&#8221; has been published in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tahomaliteraryreview.com\/\">Tahoma Literary Review<\/a> and can be read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tahomaliteraryreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/TLR_vol2no1_Mar2015.pdf\">here<\/a>. \u00a0This poem is about her experience in Romania during her\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/skurturomania.blogspot.com\/\">Global Fellowship<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations, Tara! \u00a0We&#8217;re so proud of you, and we wish you all the best during\u00a0your Fulbright!<\/p>\n<p>Tara Skurtu teaches incarcerated college students through Boston University&#8217;s Prison Education Program. She is the recipient of a 2015-16 Fulbright, a Robert Pinsky Global Fellowship, and two Academy of American Poets prizes.
