His\u00a0long poem, <a href=\"http:\/\/hopkinsreview.jhu.edu\/\">\u201cAuthority,\u201d <\/a>was published in the Spring 2016 issue of <em>The Hopkins Review.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Three poems\u2014\u201cL\u2019Esprit de l\u2019Escalier,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/dappledthings.org\/9312\/in-the-harvest-season\/\">\u201cIn the Harvest Season,\u201d<\/a> and the long poem \u201cIl Estraneo\u201d&#8211;were published in the Candlemas 2016 issue of <em>Dappled Things.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>His poem \u201cHesperides\u201d was published in <em>The Classical Outlook,<\/em> 91.1 (Spring 2016).<\/p>\n<p>Forthcoming poems include \u201cChildren of Privilege\u201d (<em>Measure<\/em>)\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cFor a Dog\u201d (<em>The Yale Review), <\/em>which\u00a0was named a finalist for the Frost Farm Prize and for the Morton Marr Prize.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan is also a prolific writer of non-fiction. \u00a0His essay \u201c \u2018Rich Refusals\u2019: Donald Justice and the New Critics,\u201d originally appearing in the Winter 2015 issue of <em>The Sewanee Review<\/em>, was awarded the Walter Sullivan Prize for Promise in Criticism by that journal.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Sewanee Review<\/em> also published his essay \u201cWarren, Eliot, Dante, and the Promises of Tradition,\u201d an excerpt from his doctoral dissertation, in their Winter 2016 issue.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Hopkins Review<\/em> published his essay \u201cClassic Ransom\u201d in their Winter 2016 issue.<\/p>\n<p>His essay \u201cHow to Think Like a Poet,\u201d originally published in the Easter 2015 issue of <em>Dappled Things<\/em>, was awarded the Jacques Maritain Prize for non-fiction. Additionally, it will be appearing later this year as a monograph from Wiseblood Books. For now, it remains available <a href=\"http:\/\/dappledthings.org\/7507\/how-to-think-like-a-poet\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For the second straight year, his poetry manuscript,\u00a0<em>The Stranger World,<\/em>\u00a0was a finalist for the Vassar Miller Book Prize.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Ryan has\u00a0been newly hired as the Office Manager for the Association of Literary Scholars, Critics, and Writers (formerly housed at Boston University), and he is also the new editor of <em>Literary Matters<\/em>, which will be forthcoming in a new format this Fall as an online journal.<\/p>\n<p>Hearty congratulations, Ryan!<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Wilson was born in Griffin, Georgia. His poems, translations, and essays appear widely, in journals such as <em>32 Poems, First Things, Iron Horse Literary Review, River Styx<\/em>, and <em>Unsplendid<\/em>.
