\"SONY<\/a>Sarah Huener (Poetry ’13) has won the Randall Jarrell Poetry Prize! \u00a0She wrote the prize-winning poem, “To Pluto,”\u00a0while in the MFA program at BU.\u00a0 The competition is held annually\u00a0by StorySouth<\/em><\/a> and was judged by poet Sarah Rose Nordgren this year.<\/p>\n

It was only afterward<\/em>
\n we found our figures<\/em><\/p>\n

false, learned we had climbed<\/em>
\n ghost ladders to accidental height.<\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019d followed numbers<\/em>
\n into night to scan<\/em><\/p>\n

for matter, discovered<\/em>
\n you, distant almost-planet\u2014<\/em><\/p>\n

but in the end you let<\/em>
\n too many others in…<\/em><\/p>\n

Sarah Huener received her BA from UNC Chapel Hill and her MFA from Boston University, after which she traveled in Croatia and Israel as a Robert Pinsky Global Fellow. Sarah’s recent work can or will be found in The Collagist, New Delta Review,<\/em> the Greensboro Review, Salamander,<\/em> and in the North Carolina volume of the Southern Poetry Anthology<\/em> (Texas Review Press, 2015). She was named the winner of the 2016 Randall Jarrell Poetry Prize for her poem “To Pluto,” and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
