Stacy Mattingly (Fiction 2011) has been invited by\u00a0the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation<\/a> to read at the Bulgarian Consulate in New York! \u00a0The reading is part of their “Small Countries in Big Literatures” series.<\/span>\u00a0 Stacy will\u00a0be reading from her recently completed novel Kata<\/em>, which she says is set mostly in current-day Sarajevo and centers on a friendship between two women — an American and a Croatian. \u00a0The other readers that evening are\u00a0Josip Novakovich and Miroslav Penkov. \u00a0The reading will be\u00a0at 7 pm on Thursday, October 19. \u00a0Click for the Facebook event<\/a>, where you can see event details and\u00a0information about the other readers.<\/p>\n

Stacy Mattingly<\/a>\u00a0is the coauthor, with Ashley Smith, of the New York Times<\/em> bestseller Unlikely Angel<\/em>, now a feature film, Captive<\/em>. Stacy’s work has appeared in EuropeNow, Oxford American<\/em>, and elsewhere. In 2012, she launched the Sarajevo Writers’ Workshop, a bilingual group of poets and prose writers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Stacy has taught creative writing at Boston University and at GrubStreet, and helped lead the first Narrative Witness exchange (Caracas-Sarajevo) for the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program. Currently, she is based in Boston and is an assistant professor at Berklee College of Music. Her first novel, Kata<\/em>, just completed, is set largely in present-day Sarajevo. <\/span><\/p>\n
