In addition, Red Hen Press will be publishing Dariel’s debut novel,\u00a0The Playwright’s House<\/em>!\u00a0 We’re looking forward to hearing more details about that soon.<\/p>\n

Dariel Suarez was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1997, during the island\u2019s economic crisis known as The Special Period. He is the author of the novel The Playwright\u2019s House<\/em> (forthcoming, Red Hen Press) and the story collection A Kind of Solitude<\/em> (Willow Springs Books), winner of the 2017 Spokane Prize for Short Fiction.<\/p>\n

Dariel is an inaugural City of Boston Artist Fellow and the Director of Core Programs and Faculty at GrubStreet, the country\u2019s largest and leading independent creative writing center. His prose has appeared or is forthcoming in numerous publications, including The Kenyon Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, Prairie Schooner<\/em>, The Massachusetts Review<\/em>, North American Review<\/em>, Third Coast, Southern Humanities Review<\/em>, WBUR\u2019s Cognoscenti, and The Caribbean Writer<\/em>, where his work was awarded the First Lady Cecile de Jongh Literary Prize. Dariel earned his M.F.A. in Fiction at Boston University and now resides in the Boston area with his wife and daughter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
