\"LantanaA new book of poems by\u00a0Sasenarine Persaud<\/a> (Fiction 2006), Lantana Strangling Ixora<\/a> <\/em>(Tsar Books<\/a> 2011), launched\u00a0at the University of Toronto on October 2,\u00a02011. The launch was part of the Festival of South Asian Literature<\/a>.\u00a0The author gave two readings during the festival and participated on a panel discussing Indo-Caribbean Literature.\u00a0Sase was the\u00a0recipient of the Leslie Epstein Fellowship for 2005-2006.<\/p>\n

Sase’s\u00a0last book, In a Boston Night<\/a><\/em> (2008) was shortlisted earlier this year for the Guyana Prize for Literature. This\u00a0book of Boston (and BU) poems is a direct result of his participation in the graduate writing program.\u00a0His\u00a0Selected Poems: Unclosed Entrances<\/em>,\u00a0has just been published in the UK and Guyana as part of the Guyana Classics Library, which is a collaboration between the University of Warwick and the Government of Guyana.<\/p>\n

Sase will be reading from\u00a0Lantana Strangling Ixora<\/a><\/em> on April 20, 2012, as part of the University of South Florida Reading Series.<\/p>\n

His publisher writes that the book “is as much about love and people in and out of relationships\u00a0as it is about origins and the process of estrangement . . .a collection that displays mastery over nuances of language.”<\/p>\n
