In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kirkusreviews.com\/book-reviews\/jim-gavin\/middle-men\/\">starred review<\/a>, Kirkus has called <em>Middle Men \u201c<\/em>exceptional<em>\u2026<\/em>the best kind of satire: barbed and hilarious, but suffused with compassion&#8221;, and The Los Angeles Times has selected Jim as one of their <a href=\"http:\/\/graphics.latimes.com\/storyboard-faces-watch-2013\/\">\u201cFaces to watch in 2013.\u201d<\/a> (Follow the link and then click \u201cBooks.\u201d) The collection includes &#8220;Costello,&#8221; which appeared previously in the New Yorker.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Jim\u2019s work has appeared in the<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/online\/blogs\/books\/2010\/11\/this-week-in-fiction-jim-gavin.html\">New Yorker<\/a><\/em> (full text of the story available online), the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/fiction\/6175\/bewildered-decisions-in-times-of-mercantile-terror-jim-gavin\">Paris Review<\/a><\/em> (ditto), and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zyzzyva.org\/\">Zyzzyva<\/a><\/em>.  He received one of our 2011 Global Fellowships in Fiction, on which he traveled to Nicaragua.
