We wanted to take a moment to recap some of the upgrades and additions we made to the BU online learning environment this past year.  Stay tuned for more new features and enhancements in the coming months.

  • Social Media: This year we introduced a Facebook fan page for topics of interest, Twitter account for quick updates, LinkedIn group for networking opportunities, and our blog for stories and more in-depth coverage of issues that affect the BU online community.
  • Wimba Pronto rolled out in most programs: We like to think of Pronto as instant messaging with a purpose. Pronto allows BU online students, faculty, facilitators, and staff to communicate quickly and efficiently, and adds a new dimension to office hours with audio, video, and app-sharing capability.
  • New Video Player: Based on your feedback, we’ve added more videos to many of our courses, and you’ll soon be seeing a more dynamic video player which will allow you to activate closed-captioning, to view videos full-screen, and to download videos as opposed to just streaming.
  • Upgraded Live Classroom: We upgraded to a new version of Wimba Classroom, resulting in improved performance and the availability of instantly downloadable archived Live Classroom sessions.
  • ProctorCam for Proctored Exams: For our degree programs that require final exams to be proctored, we partnered with ProctorCam to give students the option for taking their exams from the comfort and convenience of home.
