The NBA Lockout and Why I Don’t Care

As most of you have probably noticed by now, the NBA has yet to reach an agreement to end the lockout, and at this point, it looks as if there will be no NBA season.

My opinion? WHO CARES.

As a professional athlete, you are being paid millions of dollars to do what you love and be (usually) adored by thousands of fans. You are a hero to little boys and girls across the world who still have hope in their dreams. With the recent activity during the lockout, the players have basically taken to exploiting themselves to any and every money-making avenue.

And this is now what kids get to look up to. Players who have left wives for Flavor of Love contestants (I’m looking at you, Shaq). Players who are refusing to do their “job” because they want another million or two. You know, Prada ain’t cheap folks. I, for one, do not want to continue to even semi-support any NBA “professional” who is teaching toddlers to barter with parents.  “No cookie until I take a bath? Watch how dirty I can get, Mommy Dearest.”

I understand a large group of fans live for the sports season of their choice; for their chance to yell at the TV like the players can hear them. And for these people, the lockout is sad. But for the rest of the world, don’t waste your time caring more than a flying flock of sheep for “heroes” who are clearly not doing it for the game, nor for the fans.

And it’s winter people. Tell me which you would rather stare at on a big screen at T’s?

Bobcats Celtics Basketball

Hm? That's what I thought.

Go B’s!

PS. I don’t mean to offend anyone with the blog, nor am I even pretending to know the COMPLETE details of the NBA situation.
