At the same time, professional astronomers have the skills to work jobs that earn well over six figures. Astronomy is dominated by white men according to <a href=\"https:\/\/datausa.io\/profile\/soc\/astronomers-physicists\">datausa.io<\/a>. My goal with ASTRO365 is to diversify astronomy while providing students at diverse, low-income high schools the opportunity to learn about astronomy and the careers that it can offer.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment69\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment69\" style=\"width: 636px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/elovett\/files\/2024\/11\/ASTRO365-Interactive-Night-636x424-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"636\" height=\"424\" class=\"size-full wp-image-69\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment69\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students at the annual Astro365 Interactive Night, 2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>ASTRO365 is an initiative that I started at BU as a second year grad student. It aims to educate high school students on how and why to become an astronomer\u2014 the salary, the cool research, the free travel! To achieve this, we host Q&amp;A panels at high schools, and invite students to attend Interactive Nights at BU.
