Recorded on September 19, 2005, as part of the “Three Encounters with Elie Wiesel: The Fascination with Jewish Tales.”, Elie Wiesel speaks about\u00a0how\u00a0“people must bring to prayer the fullness of their experience \u2014 including doubt, disappointment, or even anger \u2014 in order for their prayers to be meaningful.”\u00a0He also addresses the\u00a0 most critical question: why pray?<\/span><\/div>\n

In 2005, he told\u00a0\u00a0David Levy<\/a> in\u00a0 the\u00a0Jewish Advocate<\/a>: “I love tales, I always have,”\u00a0 crediting\u00a0the centrality of storytelling in his life to his early upbringing in the Hasidic world of Eastern Europe. \u201cHasidism is not only tales, but it\u2019s also tales. No other religious movement concentrates so much on storytelling and tales as the Hasidic movement,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n
