Food for Guat?

Welcome to the unofficial page of Finagle a Bagel’s international expansion division, led by executive vice-presidents Jesse Husid and Garrett Reeb.

Guatemala is an amazing place, full of history, culture and natural beauty. But it is also a tragic place. Not even 20 years removed from a brutal civil war, poverty, crime, illiteracy and hunger still abound, making it a difficult place to do business.

Still, with the largest population in Central America, almost half of whom are under the age of 19, Guatemala provides an incredible opportunity from an emerging market standpoint, and, if approached cautiously and correctly, could prove to be an invaluable market for expansion.

It is our goal, then, over the coming months, to determine whether or not Guatemala is the right place for Finagle a Bagel to expand to, based on a host of local and macroeconomic factors.

Throughout this process we will be blogging about the myriad internal and external factors that will help guide our decision, as well as how they effect Guatemala specifically.

Please join us on our adventure from the top of Pacaya Volcano to the depths of Lago de Atitlan, as we take you through the Land of Eternal Spring to learn whether Guatemala is primed for Finagling.

Our first report will provide a breakdown of the Guatemalan population, which you can find here.
