Successful PM candidates have at least two years of working experience, a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, and an upper-division GPA of 3.0 or higher.  There are substantial case study and project discussions in class. We welcome early- or mid-career professionals who want to advance up the job ladder, mid-career project managers who want to reinforce their knowledge of PM and advance into fields like program and portfolio management and agile project management.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the MS PM our graduates:

  1. Become proficient in developing an appropriate project management life cycle, and in the practice of planning, organizing and controlling projects.
  2. Acquire proficiency in key basic PM tools and techniques with an emphasis on project and program value, communications, risk, cost and quality management.
  3. Have obtained an in-depth knowledge of tools for project, program and portfolio resourcing and scheduling.
  4. Understand the importance of behaving ethically in their professional lives.
  5. Be effective leaders and communicators.
  6. Demonstrate problem solving skills, supported by appropriate analytical qualitative and quantitative techniques.

For instance, let us consider the case of a student keen to focus on a PM and Finance Track. If the student takes courses such as AD 632 Financial Concepts, AD 642 Project Management and AD 644 Project Cost and Risk Management course as part of their degree requirements they will have acquired these competencies and abilities to help any operation:

1. Budget review and control, resource plan and cash flow
2. Interpret and provide deviations and trends of costs and funding and actions to prevent or reduce negative financial impacts on the project
3. Support the scope control of the project

5. Select and communicate the financial status of the project to stakeholders
6. Contribute to the identification, analysis, quantification and planning of the project risks and opportunities response
