Abstract
This project complements “The Added Worker Effect in the 21st Century U.S.” paper by examining how life cycle stage, family structure and household dynamics shape labor market recovery following job displacement. Using restricted U.S. administrative microdata, the paper investigates how parental status, gender and spousal earnings interact to influence unemployment risks and earnings trajectories after displacement. The paper also explores the role of selfemployment as a potential recovery strategy and assesses how its effectiveness varies across demographic and household profiles. Results for this paper is pending disclosure.
