Heart of Reiki<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Today I’d like to tell you a little about the practice of Reiki, and a new company – Heart of Reiki<\/a> – that has caught my eye.<\/p>\n

The first question I’m sure you are wondering is ‘What is Reiki?!’ To explain…<\/p>\n

Reiki is a spiritual practice that was created by Mikao Usui at Mount Kurama, Japan, in 1922. \u00a0It is used for well being, and helps to balance the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body.<\/p>\n

Reiki is easily learned and simple to practice. \u00a0Reiki is given with a light touch using hand placements over a fully clothed body. \u00a0Reiki can be used for self-care, treatment of others and for family, friends, patients and animals. Some commonly reported benefits of Reiki include less stress, less anxiety, less pain and a better quality of life. Who doesn’t need some of that in their life!!<\/p>\n

There are many Reiki companies all over the world, but one in New England has caught my attention in particular – Heart of Reiki<\/a>. Heart of Reiki was created by Ann Brum and Kelly Tammaro, and focuses on providing Reiki care to individuals and those in hospice, in addition to providing Reiki degree training for healthcare practitioners…and anyone else that might be interested! Band Mate<\/strong><\/h1>\n

I’m getting really excited about the number of small ventures that are popping up at the moment – it’s so interesting to see people devote themselves to the things they love and make a career out of it!<\/p>\n

Next up on my page of organizations that inspire me is a new social networking site for musicians in the UK. Band Mate<\/a> was created so that musically-inspired individuals looking to join a band, and bands needing band members can find one another, discuss each others’ musical influences and meet up to try out a jamming session together.<\/p>\n

The innovation was only launched on October 3rd (yesterday!) and has already garnered numerous ‘likes’ from facebook and many user profiles. I recently learned about a company called Caribbean Apparel<\/a><\/p>\n

Caribbean Apparel is an organization that sells clothing and accessories with the aim of promoting unity and pride of culture within people of the Caribbean nations.<\/p>\n

Caribbean Apparel has an ever expanding fan base, and now makes t-shirts and t-shirt dresses for Jamaica’s number one band, RDX:<\/p>\n

Caribbean Apparel aims to open a printing press in Haiti so that clothing items can be made and sold locally, in addition to providing jobs and income for Haitians.<\/p>\n
