Now it&#8217;s time to establish a routine so as not to fritter away this precious time. What better than to take the clarinet case for a walk and find a place\u00a0to practice after a\u00a0week-long hiatus. I found the perfect shady spot under a tree near Cyril&#8217;s cowshed, not far from the main house, but far enough not to bother anyone.\u00a0Practicing this tricky instrument is like meditation. You are completely engrossed by the challenge of producing a clean sound, working out the scales, melodies, and exercises you set for yourself, and before you know it, the better part of the morning has passed and your facial muscles need a rest.\u00a0Later on I read and wrote some, and when the day&#8217;s heat gave way to a late afternoon breeze we ventured out and explored.
