Who should I address my cover letter to?

If the name is not apparent on the firm’s Symplicity profile or the firm’s website, head to nalpdirectory.com if the firm is a NALP member. On the Basic Info tab, look at the Recruiting Contacts listed on the right. There typically is a legal recruiting director or manager listed for each specific location of the firm. You can always cross check the information by putting his or her name in LinkedIn as well. This is also helpful to know if you are direct applying to a firm who does not participate in OCI or in our off-campus programs.

How do I list my class ranking on my resume?

If you choose to include your GPA and/or class ranking on your resume, you must do so in the exact manner presented by the Registrar’s Office. If you are unsure of the cut-off point for your GPA within the class rankings, please refer to the Registrar's website here:  http://www.bu.edu/law/current-students/jd-student-resources/curricular-requirements/grades-honors/.

NOTE: Do not attempt to estimate your class rank based on your GPA. Any attempt to do so violates BU Law’s regulations. As such, providing rankings below the top 1/3 of the class is incorrect and not permitted. And remember, BU Law grades are based on a 4.3 scale (not 4.0).

The information you include on your resume must be completely accurate and truthful to the best of your knowledge. Please refer to the CDO's full policy on Resume Integrity on our website: https://www.bu.edu/law/current-students/career-development/application-materials/resumes/resume-integrity/
