{"id":401,"date":"2017-04-04T16:20:13","date_gmt":"2017-04-04T20:20:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/pasmith\/?p=401"},"modified":"2017-04-05T16:00:49","modified_gmt":"2017-04-05T20:00:49","slug":"imovie-editing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/pasmith\/2017\/04\/04\/imovie-editing\/","title":{"rendered":"iMovie Editing"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"p1\">Preparing to shoot your movie<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure your batteries are fully charged.<\/li>\n<li>Clean up your device, clear space to store files.<\/li>\n<li>Delete unwanted apps, back-up photos and videos using iCloud or Lightroom.<\/li>\n<li>Carry a charger with you.<\/li>\n<li>set camera for 1080P@24fps.<\/li>\n<li>use manual exposure and good lighting<\/li>\n<li>set exposure, white\u00a0balance and ISO,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Organize your movie assets<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Transfer your video and still images to the device you are using to edit in iMovie.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">You can use airdrop, or upload your files to the iCloud<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">If you are using the cloud you will need to download the clips through iMovie before inserting into your timeline. Click the cloud symbol to download.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">If you are using an audio file you can save into iTunes, or just transfer using iPhone&#8217;s &#8216;audio recorder&#8217; by clicking share.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left\">To create a new movie, click the (+).<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">Choose: create movie.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Start by selecting the media you want to use.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Create an album in &#8216;photos&#8217;\u00a0of selected clips\u00a0for better organization.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">If you use iCloud it will sync the photos from\u00a0your mobile device.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">When your clip\u00a0is selected in iMovie, hit the (+) to add it to your timeline.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">You can trim your clip in your timeline, or before you import it, using the yellow bars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left\">Editing tips<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>add a split to your clip where you need to create an action &#8211; like adding a title, lower-thirds, audio edit, etc.<\/li>\n<li>to fade sound &#8211; detach the audio, select the audio clip and find the fade control next to the volume slider.<\/li>\n<li>click on the T to create\u00a0title.<\/li>\n<li>to add fade in\/out or to select theme &#8211; click the gear next to the (+).<\/li>\n<li>pinch the clip in the timeline to expand or contract.<\/li>\n<li>don&#8217;t forget to add ids, titles and credits.<\/li>\n<li>cut on the action!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Saving and sharing<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>When your movie is complete you can export it to Vimeo or You Tube using the share button.<\/li>\n<li>Save it back to your photo roll to save movie on your device.<\/li>\n<li>Embed movie to blog and share with social media to drive traffic to your site.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Preparing to shoot your movie Make sure your batteries are fully charged.
