As part of the Project Management Club’s dedication to promoting sustainability initiatives on campus, we recently held a successful 2024 Earth Day Celebration event. This event, an integral part of the BU Sustainability events series, aimed to emphasize the importance of protecting our planet year-round through initiatives like Earth Day 365.
The event was a remarkable success, featuring a competition for sustainability project ideas developed by students in AD 642 and AD 646 throughout the Spring semester. Three groups presented their innovative projects, each showcasing a unique approach to sustainability:
- Bike Path: This project focused on enhancing and expanding bike paths on campus, encouraging cycling as a green and healthy transportation option. The students proposed practical solutions to improve the existing infrastructure, making it safer and more accessible for cyclists.
- Transit Ease: Aiming to improve public transportation accessibility and efficiency, this project sought to make commuting easier and more sustainable for the BU community. The team presented data-driven strategies to optimize transit routes.
- OCM Plan for Lego: This project proposed an Organizational Change Management (OCM) plan for integrating sustainable practices within the Lego company. The student highlighted the importance of corporate responsibility in environmental protection and outlined actionable steps for Lego to adopt greener practices.
The presentations were followed by a lively Q&A session, where attendees had the opportunity to engage with the presenters and discuss the potential impact of their projects. The creativity and dedication displayed by the students were truly inspiring, reflecting the club’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and made this event a success. Your support and enthusiasm are crucial in driving our sustainability initiatives forward.
