The following is a list of ideas for communication tips and methods.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Some departments communicate with their undergraduate students by creating <strong>monthly or weekly newsletters<\/strong> with programs such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canva.com\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Canva<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other departments <strong>email<\/strong> out weekly updates to their students.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another mode of communication for undergraduate administrators would be using <strong>social media platforms<\/strong> such as a Facebook Page or Instagram, or Twitter, to update their students.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another tip for building community\u00a0includes\u00a0creating a \u201c<strong>Student Spotlight,\u201d<\/strong> where they highlight individual students and their achievements each month.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Student Groups<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Mentorship programs<\/strong> within specific departments are a helpful way to build a happy and supportive community. For example, the Physics Department has a <strong>P<\/strong>ee<strong>R<\/strong>s for <strong>I<\/strong>ncoming <strong>S<\/strong>tudent <strong>M<\/strong>entorship <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/prism\/\">(PRISM) model<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Transfer Peer Mentoring Group<\/strong> &#8211; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Transition to BU <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(<\/span><b><i>TTBU<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">): this is an University-Wide Student Peer Mentor Program for transfer students can attend community events and support transfer students. To\u00a0learn more about TTBU, you can visit their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TransitiontoBU\/\">Facebook page<\/a>\u00a0or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/advising\/transfer-students\/peer-mentors-and-student-life\/\">Undergraduate Advising website.<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Departmental student groups<\/strong> are academic\u00a0societies that help promote the field of study.
