I am a Professor of International Relations in the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies<\/a> at Boston University.\u00a0Previously, I served as Associate Dean for Studies in the Pardee School of Global Studies, 2020-24 as well as Associate Director at the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n I received all my academic degrees (BA\/MA and PhD) in Europe, having studied at Lund University<\/a> (Sweden), Newcastle University <\/a> (England), and Link\u00f6ping University<\/a> (Sweden). My scholarly and teaching interests lie in areas of environment and sustainable development. I have a strong interest in crossing disciplinary boundaries in both my research and my teaching. I developed this interest during my graduate work at the Department of Thematic Studies – Environmental Change<\/a> (formerly named the Department of Water and Environmental Studies)\u00a0at Link\u00f6ping University, which combines social and natural science in the study of environmental issues and policy making.<\/p>\n I am the author of Mercury Stories: Understanding Sustainability through a Volatile Element<\/a> (MIT Press, with Noelle Eckley Selin and a separate book website<\/a>\u00a0containing additional publications and other resources),\u00a0European Union Environmental Governance<\/a> (Routledge, with Stacy VanDeveer) and\u00a0Global Governance of Hazardous Chemicals: Challenges of Multilevel Management <\/a>(MIT Press). I am also the editor of\u00a0Changing Climates in North American Politics: Institutions, Policymaking and Multilevel Governance<\/a> (MIT Press, with Stacy VanDeveer) and Transatlantic Environment and Energy Politics: Comparative and International Perspectives<\/a> (Ashgate, with Miranda Schreurs and Stacy VanDeveer). In addition, I am the author and co-author of more than fifty peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters, as well as numerous reports, reviews and commentaries.<\/p>\n Prior to taking up my current faculty position at Boston University, I was a Wallenberg Research Fellow in Environment and Sustainability in the Environmental Policy and Planning Group<\/a> in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2001-04), an Associate with the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs<\/a> at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (2001-03), and an Associate with the Center for International Development<\/a> at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (2003-04). In addition, I was a\u00a0Hans Fischer Senior Fellow<\/a> at the Institute for Advanced Study<\/a> and the Munich School of Politics and Public Policy<\/a> at the Technical University of Munich<\/a>, Germany in 2018-2022.<\/span><\/p>\n I currently serve as Editor for the journal Global Environmental Politics.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
