My November Guest<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

My Sorrow, when she’s here with me,<\/p>\n

Thinks these dark days of autumn rain<\/p>\n

Are beautiful as days can be;<\/p>\n

She loves the bare, the withered tree;<\/p>\n

She walked the sodden pasture lane\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026Not yesterday I learned to know<\/p>\n

The love of bare November days<\/p>\n

Before the coming of the snow,<\/p>\n

But it were vain to tell her so,<\/p>\n

And they are better for her praise.<\/p>\n

For All the Saints<\/p>\n

Ye that do truly and earnestly repent of our sin, and are in love and charity with your neighbors, and intend to lead a new life, following after the commandments of God, draw near in faith, and take this holy sacrament to your comfort.<\/p>\n

Yours is a living spirit of recollection.\u00a0 Of memory, history, remembrance, recollection.<\/p>\n

Revelation<\/p>\n

A Multitude that no one could count<\/p>\n

How do you measure a full heart?<\/p>\n

How do you weigh a soul?<\/p>\n

Prayer.\u00a0 Faith.\u00a0 Hope. Love.<\/p>\n

1 John<\/p>\n

Children of God<\/p>\n

Dislocation and grace.\u00a0 Disappointment and freedom. Departure and love.<\/p>\n

Psalms<\/p>\n

The Lord redeems.<\/p>\n

Redemption.\u00a0 An economic and a spiritual meaning.<\/p>\n

To redeem: to buy back.\u00a0 To get back.\u00a0 To pay off.\u00a0 To set free by paying a ransom.\u00a0 E Baptist, The Have Has Not Been Told<\/i>.\u00a0 To set free.\u00a0 To make amends.\u00a0 To make worthwhile.<\/p>\n

Debt and regret.<\/p>\n

Be careful, Commonwealth about funding common life on the basis and backs of debt and regret.<\/p>\n

In the summer we live near a grand institution devoted to gaming.\u00a0\u00a0 Young eyes, poor homes, older people.\u00a0 Those at the dawn, twilight, and shadows of life.<\/p>\n

Is this the best we can do?<\/p>\n

Matthew<\/p>\n

The saints:\u00a0 poor in spirit, mourn, meek, hungry, merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers, persecuted.<\/p>\n

Someone.\u00a0 Silent recollection.\u00a0 Organ moment.<\/p>\n

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.\u00a0 Presence. Longevity. Heart.\u00a0 Every opening.\u00a0 Physically seen by half the population.\u00a0 Silber Way:\u00a0 Is there any other?\u00a0 Photonics:\u00a0 How should I know?<\/p>\n

Michael Schmidt, Lives of the Poets<\/i>. Edward Thomas (d. 1917, France) on North of Boston:<\/i>\u00a0 \u2018This is one of the most revolutionary books of modern times, but one of the quietest and least aggressive.\u00a0 It speaks, and it is poetry.\u201d\u00a0 They had one year of friendship, to walk the sodden pasture lanes of England.<\/p>\n

Truth instinctively apprehended not intellectually grasped.<\/p>\n

Recollection.<\/p>\n

Yes, thanksgiving, and yes, real presence, but also remembrance.<\/p>\n
