June 30th, 2014 was a very exciting day for BUTI- it brought the arrival of our Young Artists. Upwards of 300 students arrived to participate in the Young Artists Composition, Harp, Orchestra, Piano, Vocal, and Wind Ensemble programs.
Packing for a summer in the Berkshires can be a tricky task, and our Resident Assistants were always on hand to help transport and carry luggage. Those arriving with family also had many helping hands. It took a whole village, but all our students are now comfortably settled in!
One of the most anticipated parts of Move-in Day is the Opening Barbecue. It occurs after an exhilarating opening ceremony and before some more nuts-and-bolts type information sessions. BUTI’s Dining Services did a marvelous job catering this event. The setting is our own backyard here at Groton Place, and the weather was perfect for an outdoor barbecue.
Our students this year are a diverse and energetic bunch. It was clear that from day one, students had already begun making friendships to last a lifetime. We can’t wait for a summer full of beautiful music-making!
