We are entering our second week of the Young Artist Programs, and BUTI is bursting with mellifluous sound and vibrant energy. Students moved in on July 5th and celebrated the beginning of their musical journeys with a Barbecue and opening ceremonies. During the week they attended various performances, including faculty recitals, a student piano recital, and BSO events. Then concert with the highest attendance was the BSO and TFC’s all Italian Program on Saturday night. Many students grabbed their tickets from the Student Life Office and sat in the Koussevitzky Music Shed, while others set up blankets and enjoyed Puccini under the stars. Even after the busy week, several students got up early on Sunday morning to hike Monument Mountain with RAs Jess and Noam.
This week will be filled with exciting events including student and faculty recitals, student life events, and BSO concerts. We are looking forward to the YAWE and YAO concerts this weekend. Though the students have only just met, they have already come together as cohesive ensembles to not only tackle the challenging repertoire, but also to develop it into an expressive performance. We are proud of our students’ growth and are looking forward to seeing them flourish.
