1981 Vocal Program Reunion

This weekend has been a buzz of activity here at BUTI. The campus was alive with the usual energy that accompanies the large program concert weekends. While we were preparing to say farewell to many of our students, we also had the exciting opportunity to say hello to old friends. This past Friday, about 20 members of the 1981 Vocal Program gathered on campus for a heartfelt reunion. They exchanged warm smiles and spent a great deal of time catching up, reminiscing about their time as students, and discussing where their passion for music has led them in life. Though much has changed since their time in the Berkshires, their love for music remains unwavering. They gathered in Lively Stones on Saturday morning to sing together once again, reintegrating themselves effortlessly back into campus life as though they had never left. They met with their director, Professor Leonard Atherton who was also visiting the Berkshires at the same time. They even attended the YAO-YAVP concert on Saturday to enjoy Chichester Psalms, a nostalgic even as it was a piece they sang during their time as BUTI students 34 years prior. Though the students’ time here is brief, the bonds and friendships formed at BUTI really due last a lifetime. While we hate to see our students go, we are proud of the growth and progress they have made here. We hope that they to will continue to flourish, not only as talented musicians, but also as compassionate young adults.
