The Young Artists Vocal Program presented two nights of opera scenes to conclude their summer at BUTI. Students dressed in costume and performed on stage in West Street Theater with beautiful singing and choreography. Many of these scenes were comedic, while others were deeply emotional. The first night featured scenes from Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore, and Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. The second night featured scenes from Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Weill’s Street Scene, and Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. Both nights concluded with all the YAVP students performing “The Promise of Living” from Copland’s The Tenderland. To celebrate the end of the summer, the YAVP students and faculty enjoyed refreshments together after the final night of opera scenes.
