2024-25 Executive Board

👋 Hello from your 2024-25 E-Board! We can’t wait to see everyone back on Comm Ave next month for the 50th year of Tau Beta Pi at BU. Before we get started, here’s a quick introduction to each of us.

Evan Horvath (he/him/his), President

Hi everybody, my name’s Evan Horvath and I’m a rising senior in BME and Kilachand. I’m excited to do my job as President this year! I am a member of the Zaman lab where I work on the computational modeling of antimicrobial resistance spread in low and middle income communities. Outside of school I like to lift, play pickup soccer/basketball, cook, and hike. If you have any suggestions or questions, please feel free to reach out to me at evandh@bu.edu!

H. Zeynep Haciguzeller (she/her/hers), Vice President

Hey everyone! My name is Zeynep. I am a senior studying Biomedical Engineering. I am a Trustee Scholar and an international student from Istanbul, Turkey. I will be serving as the vice president of Tau Beta Pi’s MA Eta chapter this year! In BU, I am doing lab research, currently at a synthetic biology lab, and am also involved in Kilachand Honors College, Turkish Student Association, the DREAM Program, BU CHAARG, BMES, and SWE. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, working out, listening to music, and more. Looking forward to meeting everyone!! Eddie Wei (he/him/his), Treasurer

Hi everyone, my name is Eddie, and I am a senior studying both electrical and biomedical engineering. I’m really excited and looking forward to serving as the treasurer for 2024-2025 Tau Beta PI – Boston University. You can typically find me at the BU Photonics building conducting photothermal research or grinding at Ingalls. Outside of school, I enjoy video games, tennis, watching YouTube, and exploring new places.

Cal Parise (he/him/his), Secretary

Hi! My name’s Cal Parise, and I’m a rising senior in BME with a minor in computer science. As Secretary of Tau Beta Pi MA Eta, I’ll be the one running things on our socials as well as making blog posts for our website. Outside of TBP, I work researching blood stem cell development in the Hagedorn Lab at BUMC. In my spare time, you can find me hiking, riding my bike, studying in SEL, or cheering on BU hockey. Tyler Hart (he/him/his), Historian

Hi everyone, my name is Tyler Hart, and I’m a rising senior in mechanical engineering and a member of the Kilachand Honors College. I’m looking forward to fulfilling my role as historian this year! I conduct research in Prof. Duan’s Nanoscale Energy-Fluids Transport Lab and will be pursuing a concentration in Nanotechnology this year. I am also interested in energy technologies and robotics. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing intramural sports (2-time champion btw), cooking with friends, and going to Sox games with Student9s tickets. Feel free to reach out at thart1@bu.edu!

Tau Beta Pi had its first member initiated in 1885. It is the oldest engineering honor society and the second oldest university level honor society in the United States. Since then, it has grown to include 244 collegiate chapters across the US and Puerto Rico. The chapter at Boston University was founded in 1975 and is designated the Massachusetts Eta chapter.

As officers of the 2024-25 school year, we aim to make Tau Beta Pi more active in the BU ENG community.
