Good morning everyone!
Welcome to the new school year engineers of BU! Don’t forget to purchase (or download) your textbooks and batteries for your calculators.
The first event to look forward to this semester is the ENG Block Party on Friday September 6th, 4pm-6pm. There will be games, food, and professors to talk to and of course classmates to mingle with. [On Cummington Mall]
The next event is the ENG Student Organizations Fair which will be on September 20th, 3:30pm-5pm. All undergraduate engineering affiliated organizations will have a booth where they will answer your questions and recruit students. [In PHO 1st and 2nd floors]

| Yo peeps, so it's that time of year again for ENG Week and it's gonna be off the hook. Tau Beta Pi and your very own Engineering Student Government members have teamed up to present Engineering Trivia Night.
Form teams up to a max of 8 people (including yourself) of engineering students from Boston University and be prepared to win some excellent prizes, partake in some delicious food expand our never-ending quest for knowledge, participate in E-Week (#YOLO), and hang out with your eng friends.
When: February 26th, 2013 (7pm - 10pm)
Where: Photonics 906
1st Place: $200
2nd Place: $100
3rd Place: $50

On behalf of the Tau Beta Pi community, we would like to thank all of you who had come to the Bent Ceremony this past Friday. There were so many wonderful Bents, ranging from the incredibly delicious, to the sparky light up, to the thoughtful, to the intriguing. There will be pictures of all of the Bents and those who presented them underneath the Bents tab of the website. The food was good, the atmosphere was livelier than a den of sleep-deprived Engineering students, and it was awesome getting to see everyone before the induction ceremony.
There was also a small competition for the following categories: Best Overall Bent, Best Representative of Engineering Bent, Tastiest Bent, and Funniest Bent. Here were the winners:

Hello Prospective TBP Applicants,
Remember that this is the last day to turn in:
- Dues ($70)
- Professor Recommendation
- Community Service Hours (4 hours)
- Essay
These are all due by Today on Wednesday, November 7th 5pm to tbp@bu.edu
Feel free to just scan a small typed paper that says that you have done the necessary hours for community service and then email it to us if you are unable to deliver a physical copy to us when you pay your dues.
And remember that the Tau Beta Pi Bent Ceremony is this Friday, November 9th at 7:30pm in the GSU Alley, which is located in the basement of the GSU next to BU Central. We look forward to seeing your miraculous and glorious bents then.

Sometimes people tend to think of Engineers as being Enginerds! However, it's much deeper than that. We immerse ourselves in a world of numbers, theorems, vectors, and analysis. But this provides us with a life lesson and a methodology with which we live out our lives. We see math in things and start to realize that what we once wondered and marveled at can be reduced to equations and ideas that make sense. The world starts to make sense, and we are able to share this understanding to help others. As an engineer-in-training, I see myself as one who wants to better help this world by employing what I have learned. Life is beautiful and even though wonders can be reduced to equations, we can still suspend our understanding for a while to share a collective awe resulting from seeing a plane fly takeoff, looking at the light of stars light-years away, and knowing that we are all connected.

Wow so the the Engineering Futures Seminar was off the hook! It was quite wonderful to wake up in the earlier hours of a crisp Saturday on October 6th, 2012 morning in order to kick off the weekend. Cheryl was quite wonderful in explaining the different concepts inherent to being a good leader both as an engineer and as a people-person. We did some impromptu skits, presentations, and ate delicious bagels with cream cheese all while having a blast giving public talks in front of our peers.

Also don't forget that Monday October 15th at 7pm in Photonics 206 is the Boston University Tau Beta Pi information session. There will be free pizza, soda, and an awesome-sauce presentation by the Tau Beta Pi e-board yolo!

Ahh the smell of Pumpkin Spice Venti Lattes wafting through the air as we hurry from one side of Commonwealth Avenue to the other can only signify one thing; that October is coming! Except that instead of a Game of Thrones we are instead doing a Game of Bents. What is a Bent you may ask? Well that question and many more will be answered in the weeks to come because Tau Beta Pi has many exciting events for both Engineering Students as well as Tau Beta Pi members.
