{"id":454,"date":"2018-07-23T00:14:52","date_gmt":"2018-07-23T04:14:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/zagorsky\/?p=454"},"modified":"2018-07-24T23:34:12","modified_gmt":"2018-07-25T03:34:12","slug":"day-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/zagorsky\/2018\/07\/23\/day-24\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 24: Coon Rapids to Redwing, MN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Between last night&#8217;s post and tonight two things happened.\u00a0 First, my wife and I acted like tourists.\u00a0 After finishing pedaling yesterday we went to a street and food truck fair for dinner, instead of eating in a restaurant. Then we drove to downtown Minneapolis to watch a very large fireworks show that they were holding along the river.<\/p>\n<p>Doing both of these things felt a bit weird.\u00a0 Normally, my night is structured differently.\u00a0 I typically get off the bike, take a shower, eat, type a blog entry and pass out.\u00a0 Doing touristy things felt quite strange but both were a lot of fun.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-454 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/zagorsky\/2018\/07\/23\/day-24\/the-food-truck-festival\/'><img width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"\/zagorsky\/files\/2018\/07\/The-food-truck-festival-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/zagorsky\/2018\/07\/23\/day-24\/some-of-the-first-fireworks\/'><img width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"\/zagorsky\/files\/2018\/07\/Some-of-the-first-fireworks-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/zagorsky\/2018\/07\/23\/day-24\/fireworks-in-minneapolis\/'><img width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"\/zagorsky\/files\/2018\/07\/Fireworks-in-Minneapolis-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>The second thing that happened was while pedaling today.\u00a0 In the early part of the trip if I came to a sign that said &#8220;Road Closed&#8221; I was in trouble.\u00a0 This sign meant the road was really off limits.<\/p>\n<p>Today, I came to one of these signs and tried to figure out what to do.\u00a0 In Minnesota, I guess &#8220;Road Closed&#8221; doesn&#8217;t mean that since many of the roads have people living along the road.\u00a0 I decided to see how far I could travel down the closed road. \u00a0 Not only did I make it all the way (about 5 miles), but I was passed by a dozen cars, including one police car.\u00a0 It is funny how the same sign in two different states means such different things.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Between last night&#8217;s post and tonight two things happened.\u00a0 First, my wife and I acted like tourists.\u00a0 After finishing pedaling yesterday we went to a street and food truck fair for dinner, instead of eating in a restaurant.
