This autumn Kelly will be travelling to Vietnam and Hong Kong. In Vietnam, she will spend a month between Hanoi and the mountain town of Da Lat, along with a trip down to Ho Chi Minh City to meet with Ly Doi, a Vietnamese poet whose work she is translating. For her month in Hong Kong she plans on hiking the outer islands, eating delicious dim sum and observing one of the only places in the world where an Eastern and Western culture rub shoulders every day. All of these experiences will feed into her work, which is about linguistic and world-view gaps between cultures.
