September – October 2021 Updates

With the fall semester in full swing, the Cycling Club has been ramping up our activities: training sessions, group rides, workshops, kit sales, and more!

For the latest, be sure to join our newsletter and email list here (you can see all our past issues here). The rundown:

  1. The deadline to join our roster (and become an official member of the club) is Friday, October 1st. Please email us for details!
  2. We are holding our first skills workshop all about group riding on October 2nd, led by Coach Ian Marling. We’re beyond excited for this and can’t wait to see how our riders learn and grow!
  3. Our discounted lightly used and leftover kit sale has been a smashing success! Already new riders are repping BU on our group rides, and we’re proud of being able to not only increase the accessibility of the sport in this small way, but also reduce waste by helping perfectly good clothing go to people who will put it to good use. Clearing up space in the locker also opens up other possibilities, such as having a place for gear rentals and spare bike parts.
  4. Speaking of: we have been blessed with favorable weather every weekend of the semester so far, and the group rides have been rolling along (mostly) smoothly. Riders have been loving the requisite cafe stop on every route, and we’ve all had a chance to practice sprints and paceline skills together on some very scenic roads. Running favorites: Mystic Lakes and Blue Hills. Besides the occasional (inevitable) flat and wrong turn, these rides haven’t missed yet!

Want to suggest your favorite route, loop, hill, or road for our next group ride? Email us! Ditto for cafe suggestions – we may have a cafe tour in our near future and we always welcome recommendations. As always, if you want to donate gear, clothing, equipment, or parts for our rental stockpile, head on over to our Donate page.
