The Enrichment and Student Affairs Offices at B.U. School of Medicine joined the BUSM Historical Society in presenting “A Doctor’s Visit,” a reading of Anton Chekhov’s short story adapted for the stage. “A Doctor’s Visit,” tells the story of a doctor and his apprentice as they venture outside Moscow to treat the daughter of a wealthy factory owner. Nothing appears to be the matter, until the family convinces them to stay the night. In this modern take on a literary classic, medical students explored and discussed themes of empathy, doctor-patient relationships, and appearance versus reality that are ever present in contemporary medical practice.
