Abstract:

People everywhere are moved by the power of groups, whether in a congregation, at a concert, or at a political rally. Consciousness research has studied this phenomenon in the laboratory, in “sacred spaces” and, surprisingly, at the ballpark. Harvard psychiatrist and energy medicine practitioner Rick Leskowitz, MD, will describe a lab study showing how a small group of Heart Coherence meditation practitioners can actually entrain nearby people into a state of enhanced mind/body coordination. Sophisticated computer measurements at Fenway Park suggest that the entire crowd may enter into a state of psychological, energetic and perhaps even spiritual resonance at key moments. The notion of “conditioned spaces” will be introduced to explain how and why certain locations are so compelling, and clinical applications of these phenomena will be discussed. More information can be obtained at the website for Dr. Leskowitz’s documentary film on this topic: “The Joy of Sox: Weird Science and the Power of Intention”, at www.TheJoyOfSoxMovie.com.
