IRG seeks a Renewable Energy Specialist. This position is responsible for providing core expertise in the area of Renewable Energy (RE) resources, technologies, policies and systems implementation to IRG business development, proposal and project management activities. General areas of responsibility include marketing for new business, proposal development, delivery of contract products per client specifications, technical and administrative management of contracts and guidance to staff, consultants and subcontractors. This position will require interdependent work with other EEM division members, consultants, project partners, clients and other IRG divisions.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; Prior Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in the Renewable Energy field; Broad experience in structuring renewable energy deals, and advising governments and development agencies on technology choices and policy options; Broad technical knowledge of wind, solar, biomass and biofuels; Strategic vision and an understanding of the economic trade-offs between renewable and conventional energy sources to be able to interact with the group’s strategic modeling team; Experience managing complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams; USAID and/or other donor-funded project experience highly desirable. Language: No language requirement other than English. Software Experience: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook. Travel: Candidate must be willing to travel to developing countries in Africa, Southeast Europe and Eurasia, Central Asia, South and Southeast Asia. Assignments will likely include work in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, Iraq and other sensitive environments. Candidates unwilling to travel to these countries should not apply.
