Greetings! I am a Research Assistant Professor in Boston University’s Department of Archaeology. My research focuses on understanding the effects of climate change and resource availability on prehistoric foodways, particularly on islands in the Gulf of Alaska. I use the zooarchaeological record – or the animal bones in archaeological sites that are the remains of prehistoric meals – to understand this dynamic. I love to do archaeological fieldwork, and my current field projects include survey and excavation on Alaska’s Kodiak Island, Chirikof Island, and the Aleutian Islands. Visit the BU Zooarchaeology Lab website to learn more about this research, and follow this blog for updates on current fieldwork.
