Eating at Giraffe…

I rarely enjoy airport food, but I found an interesting restaurant at Heathrow. I ate dinner and breakfast on the plane that landed about 7:00am, so I wasn’t interested in eating much until lunch. I decided to eat a late lunch (1:30) because I’ll also have a late dinner on the plane. Trying to rapidly adjust to new time zones is always a challenge for me. . .

Anyway, I found a restaurant name Giraffe that offered a variety of sandwiches including a “Tangy & Spiced Turkey enchiladas” filled with turkey, blackbeans, corn, spinach, adobe sauce, cheese and avacado salsa. It was more of a burrito than an enchilada as I’ve experienced eaten them in Texas and New Mexico, but it was good, nonetheless.

Single diners were seated at a common table. It wasn’t an uncomfortable experience, but it didn’t produce the a “community” experience that I’ve heard some restaurants are able to create by seating diners at a common table. People seemed to eat silently and quickly… Maybe the airport isn’t the place to create community around a dining experience.
