Ambitious Agenda

Flickr - Uploaded on November 6, 2008, by happeningfishI haven’t been on the blog for a while — my bad!  I’ve been spending lots of time posting on Twitter and Facebook.  In addition to trying to clean off my desk, during the period of time between sessions (Semester ! and Semester II), I plan to moodle my imagination by listening to music and taking a looking the great musings of others.

I plan to listen to some of the old school.  To groove with Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, and to revive Spearhead in my house.  I’m also going to reacquaint myself with a love – Don Letts’ selection of 1976 music from the Roxy Club (check out Dread meets Punk Rockers Uptown).  That’s plenty of music for me to idle to in order to catch some inspiration.

For contemplation, I hope to get through Toni Morrison’s a mercy, Anastasia Goodstein’s Totally Wired, and to finish Nicole Krauss’ The History of Love.  I also hope I can think about the ideas in Russell Dalton’s The Good Citizen, Paul Tough’s Whatever it Takes, and Karen Armstrong’s The Spiral Staircase.  I also plan to re-read Tracy Kidder’s Mountains Beyond Mountains and Junot Diaz’s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

I also hope I can understand the mysteries of love and maybe get in a couple of games of pick-up hoops.  Whew! An ambitious agenda to start the new year.

What’s your plan?  Whatever it is, be safe and stay well.
