Service & Outreach

I am committed to make Astronomy more accessible through public engagement efforts, centering my efforts on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion targeted towards early career scientists and underserved communities in STEM.

Following the dotAstro 12 conference at the CCA in NYC (October 2023), I co-founded an Astronomy Graduate Student Congress to bring together astronomy graduate students from across the United States to promote interdepartmental discourse, learn from each other, share resources, opportunities, and uncover the hidden curriculum for early-career astronomers.

Throughout the first semester of 2023, I co-created an initiative, Inclusive Astronomy, which supports underrepresented students and faculty in the BU Astronomy Department by facilitating events aimed at public engagement and by fostering an affinity group for self-identified minorities within the department.

As a part of this initiative, I have been heavily involved in the creation of Science Train, a project aiming to bring outreach directly to Bostonians on their commute by answering space-related questions on the MBTA. We now hope to expand this project to other fields and bring on more scientists of the Boston-area.

Since September 2021, I have been participating in the BU Observatory Open Night series, bringing the stars and planets to the general audience.
