Experiencing the arts in a business context provides a unique vehicle that can be utilized to develop whole brain thinking-especially emotional intelligence in corporations which when synthesized can create authenticity in product development and branding, vibrant internal communication styles creating stronger bonds and better teams, a delivery vehicle for embedding key messaging as well as offering an opportunity to set the mind on fire with fresh perspectives and ideas– all essential and underutilized skills for 21st Century growth that once developed, can significantly impact the bottom line.

Architecture of Value Draft 7 (Alan Brown)

Reading submitted by Dean Juarez. Alan  Brown starts with this question: Can you explain, in simple terms, how you or someone you know is changed by listening to music, watching a dance performance, looing at an artwork, or writing in a journal?

He continues: "I'd be hard pressed to manage a coherent response. It's not easy to talk about how art transforms or how we are different because of it. Many who work in the arts, inlcuding those of us who do so because of our belief in the transformative power of art, lack a vernacular for communicating its impacts."

The Language of Mission: Harvard Business School

A very good example of how to talk about vision and mission. The new Dean of Harvard Business School discusses the school's mission. http://www.hbs.edu/dean/ Click the link to the video. He unpacks words that every school uses: education, leadership, making a difference; and emphasizes what is distincitive at HBS. A very different educational project than CFA--but a good gloss on mission. And, a very engaging speaker.

Welcome!

Everything should be pretty self-explanatory, but please send me an email at jfhkeith@bu.edu or give me a call at 3-8784 if you have any questions.
