Crowdfunding

Though we receive funding from BU for basketball performance expenses (thanks, BU!), competing nationally is costly and not funded by the university. The estimated cost of all expenses to go to Nationals this year is $31,667.

Individual Image CD-A50Y0399 (1)

Each year our team works tirelessly to raise the money to go to Nationals by selling 50/50 raffle tickets at hockey games, cleaning Agganis Arena after events, writing letters and selling merchandise; however this becomes really hard on us because we are not only athletes, but also full-time students. We have already raised $5,000 so far this year, but we need an additional $25,000 to help us get to Nationals. The funds we raise will help us cover our expenses, like competition fees, air and ground transportation, accommodations, music, choreography, costumes, and dance shoes and tights.

This is why we are once again launching a BU Crowdfunding campaign to help us raise enough money to compete nationally. Check out our campaign at https://crowdfunding.bu.edu/budt2016 Anything helps! Thank you so much for your support.

BMAX Strong

We are excited to announce that we will be joining the BMAX family! We have been working hard with Andy Berler to achieve our goals and arrive in Daytona as one! BMAX is the official workout for the Cheerleaders of the NFL's Patriots, Redskins, BenGals, Rams, MLL's Cannons Dancers, and now the Boston University Dance Team! BMAX is the Berler Maximum Activation Xtreme Fitness Program that delivers the five critical health components of physical fitness: Cardio Health, Flexibility, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, and Body Composition. It is the perfect way for us to get in shape for Nationals, and we love it! We are already feeling Activated and much stronger than we have ever been. BMAX is only $14.99 per month and if you mention the BU Dance Team, we get a portion of the proceeds to help us pay our way to nationals. #BMAXStrong

Basketball Season

One of our favorite times of the year is none other than basketball season! We love cheering for our fellow terriers on the sidelines. This year, we even got to perform with BU Men’s Basketball, BU Women’s Basketball, and BU Cheer at Terrier Madness! It was so much fun dancing with them to kick-off the basketball season. Since then, both Men's and Women's basketball teams have been doing so well. We enjoying performing our different routines to get the crowd pumped for the game. Be sure to check out the Terrier Madness video, and our timeout performances!

BUDT Gives Back!

Every year the team participates in a variety of charity events around the community of Boston, and this year is no exception. The team started off by volunteering at the American Heart Association’s Annual Heart Walk on September 12th. We had such a great time cheering on all of the incredible participants, and loved helping bring attention to such a dedicated foundation.

In December we volunteered at the 2015 Holiday Reading, where we visited local public schools and read stories to the children. The team had so much fun bonding with the kids and it's always an event we look forward to participating in. We appreciate the opportunities we have to give back to the community and can’t wait to take part in more!

BUDT Goes to Nationals

IMG_8844

Another nationals season has come and gone, and BUDT could not happier. All our hard work paid off as we placed 4th overall in the Team Performance competition and 2nd place in the Hip Hop category at the NDA National Collegiate Dance Competition in Daytona Beach, Florida! We knew we were going to have to work like dogs to maintain our top national ranking from last year, but the work was worth it.

11078156_10206281755504377_5881750684432130515_nWe had a lot of obstacles to overcome this year: making up snow-canceled practices, changing Nationals choreography, fundraising the most in the program's history, and of course continuing to be challenged with harder choreography, new hip hop tricks, and long practices, all while maintaining our grades. But every girl on the team worked incredibly hard and stayed focus on what we needed to get accomplished. This team is made up of the most determined, talented girls you will ever know, which is how we once again reached our goals. Nationals was an amazing experience as always, and the team is already excited about next year. The girls know they will have to work even harder, but they are "rhetty" for the challenge!

11154867_10204337184726691_8475553345274735162_o - Version 2The BU Dance Team would like to thank everyone that has supported them throughout this journey, including their dedicated coach, Kaitlyn Busconi, and awesome assistant coaches, Kate Stanton and Kate McCabe. This year would not have been possible without them! You can watch the team's performances here and here! And a special congrats to BU Cheer for getting 4th place, the best in the program's history! We can't wait to see what the future holds for BUDT, and we hope you stick around to find out. More info on camp and fall auditions will be coming soon. If you are interested in joining the BU Dance Team or have any questions at all be sure to email us at budt@bu.edu!
