Notes on a Cross-Cultural Interview

Neel:

1: New Jersey. Southspace Brunswick

lots of cars, trees, nature, traffic, lot of houses

2. indian. jainism

4. Mom: high school teacher

Father: IT stuff

Food-related:

1.     Dinner

2.     Mom cooks, everyone in the family takes turns sitting the table and cleaning up, my mom serves the food

3.     We don’t waste food and we pray before eating

4.     Watching tv while eating and using the phone while eating

5.     Any dish with little cheese and a lot of vegetables

6.     Pizza and fast food

7.     My family is Jain which means we don’t eat meat.

8.     About 4 times a week

Elise:

1.  New Jersey, Princeton. lots of cars,trees,nature,traffic

2. Chinese cultural background. I am an atheist

3. 3 people in my family: parents and me

4. Both parents are computer specialist
 
Food-Related
1. Lunch/Dinner
2. My whole family doesn’t cook a lot. Everyone cooks a little, serves the food, sets the table, and cleans up.
3. Don’t waste food and save for left-overs
4. touching food in the center and putting it back. Leaves germs
5. protein + vegetable + grain
6. hot dogs, hamburgers, mac & cheese, pizza, and chicken fingers
7. I don’t eat red meat but instead only lean white meat.
8. We go out quite often and do take-out as well.
