“Pleasure of Eating”

In his essay, Wendell Berry talks about the pleasure of eating. His main point is people need to know where their foods come from and try to make food on thier own.  His way of defining the word “pleasure” is thus knowing the sources of food and producing foods by people themself. In this essay, Berry really focus on what is called “eat responsibly,” like he said in the essay: “A significant part of the pleasure of wating is in one’s accurate consciousness of the lives and the world from which food comes.”

My definition of “pleasure” is simply to live happily. I think pleasure coming from multilple ways. For food, I would feel happy when I eat the food I think is very delicious. I certaintly concern if the food is healthy and fresh, but I do not care if I know where the food comes from. Thus, I disagree with Berry’s opinion of freedom– to eat meanwhile knowing the source of foods. I do not really think Berry’s thoughts could be realized nowadays. For most people, they have work and they do not have time to do the producing. But if interview some people, they probably would not think their freedom loses due to unknown source of foods.
