Through taking wr98, I feel confident about writing outlines and putting quote and explanation in a right way. I believe that beginning a paper is always the hardest part in writing because when you finish reading, your brain is full of information and you don’t know how to use this information to start a paper. At this time, writing an outline is really important! It makes our brain clear since we have to think about the thesis of the author, categorize the information, and know the organization of the whole article. I find that it’s easy to get the main point of the author and see the relationship between two articles when I finish writing outlines. For example, in “Generation Q” and “The Generation of Generation Q”, although both authors agree that technology makes young generation quite and less creative, they hold different attitudes toward the Generation Q since the article “Generation Q” believes that young generation should be active and courageous but the article “The Generation of Generation Q” suggests that being quiet is more effective than speaking up.

I also feel confident about putting quote and explanation in a right way. I used to put the thesis without any quotes or to put the quotes without any explanation. But wr98 makes me know that combining main point, quote and explanation not only helps our reader better understand what we want to express but also makes our own essay arguable and persuasive.

I think I still have to work on choosing words and distinguishing opinion and argument. I should change some words to make my expression more accurate and clear, such as changing “attractive” to “appealing”, “stage” to “platform” and so on. Clarifying opinion and argument is also a weakness of mine. Opinion is something you think or believe. Argument is a statement or set of statements that you use in order to convince people that your opinion about something is correct. I always use my own opinion as my thesis statement, but now I know that an arguable thesis that can be supported by evidence is more persuasive.

I love taking photos but I’m not so good at using computer to design. I’m capable of using PowerPoint since I have so much presentations but I never try to create a website. I am looking forward to having more contacts with technology to be a multimedia communicator and I hope wr100 can give me more advices and inspirations.
