Undergraduate / Graduate Internship – Geospatial and Demographic Analytics Research Team

Introduction

McKinsey & Company (www.mckinsey.com) is a premier global management consulting firm that serves the world’s leading companies on issues of strategy, operations, finance, marketing, and organization.

McKinsey’s North American Knowledge Center (NAKC), located in Waltham, MA (20 minutes west of Boston), provides research and analytic support to McKinsey consultants. The Center hosts several industry and functional research teams as well as a few specialized teams such as the Geospatial and Demographic Analytics (“Geo-Demo”) research team. The Geo Demo research team assists consulting teams to problem solve on a wide range of business issues that are geospatial in nature. These researchers conduct geographic and demographic analysis, using GIS for real life business decision making.

Geospatial Analyst Intern: Position Description

We are seeking a graduate (Master’s/PhD) or undergraduate (Junior/Senior) student with technical aptitudes in GIS to help support and shape the development of solutions and capabilities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will need to be versatile in using Access, Excel and Powerpoint, should possess some experience with one of the GIS platforms, and should be able to demonstrate analytical impact on a recent project.

Requirements

• Strong academic qualifications, and currently pursuing an advanced degree (Master’s,

PhD) in programs such as GIS, Geography, Sociology, Planning, Mathematics, Economics, Business, or other related fields

• Demonstrated experience in advanced spatial analytics techniques

• Strong interpersonal and analytic skills

• Strong communications skills – both oral and written
