About

Dance Theatre Group (DTG) was created in 1973 to give student dancers at Boston University the opportunity to learn different styles of dance and the chance to perform in student and faculty works. Dance Theatre Group is dedicated to building a community that values dance as a concert art form.

Each semester, we offer weekly classes in varying styles chosen by group members. In the past, we have offered classes in classical, ethnic and social dance. Each semester DTG also presents a dance concert, master classes, and participates in on-campus showcase events. Each year, DTG travels to The New England Regional American College Dance Festival, and co-sponsors a residency with a guest artist.

Students of all levels are welcome. There are no auditions for membership. For those who wish to perform, there are dances for people of all levels and abilities. We aspire to create performances that are original, inventive, well-crafted and skillfully danced.

Dance Theatre Group is mentored by three members of the dance faculty at Boston University: Micki Taylor-Pinney, Ann Brown Allen, and Brian Feigenbaum. They each teach one class during the semester, choreograph pieces on student dancers for our semester concerts, and give constructive criticism on composition and performance at periodic showings throughout the semester.
