Isaac-Lopez-e1474565672771-150x145Welcome to my page! My name is Isaac Lopez. I am from El Paso, TX. I am a first year graduate student at Boston University, majoring in Astronomy. My goal is to obtain the skills required to become a world class researcher. I did my undergrad at The University of Texas at El Paso, where I majored in Physics. This is also where I obtained my MS in physics.  My main area of research is in Low Mass X-ray Binaries (LMXBs). These binary systems feature a black hole, neutron star, or white dwarf star primary whose intense gravity draws matter from another star orbiting in close proximity. This matter creates an accretion disk which generates most of the light we observe. I have studied these objects in the optical region using the 82″ telescope at McDonald Observatory.

In my free time I enjoy playing classical guitar, learning about chess, improving my culinary skills, and playing board games. I try to travel as much as I can as well.
