Class Descriptions

Marathon I (PDP GS 120) is all about learning the basics of training for a marathon.  Although light on actual running, the purpose is to build a foundation of knowledge that you can use to train for anything from a 5K to a full marathon.  There will be many in-class lectures from experts in various fields like Nutrition, Psychology, Strength Training, Injury Prevention and Management, just to name a few.  Our hope is that by the end of the class, you will have the knowledge and the motivation to train for a spring marathon.

Marathon II (PDP GS220) will train you to successfully run a marathon by the end of the class. We will provide information regarding training logs, injury prevention, nutrition, etc., via this blog. The class will focus on speed work, as this is an area most new marathoners are unfamiliar with. Tuesdays will focus on tempo runnning and Thursdays will focus on track work. Long runs and easy runs will be coordinated through the BU Running Club.
