Jerusalem

I lived and studied in Jerusalem in 1982-83 and 1986-87. Since then I have been fascinated by the combination of spirituality and violence this city has inspired in diverse communities across time. In addition to teaching a class on the Holy City, I blog on Jerusalem-related issues, and I am also writing a brief history of Jerusalem where I am trying to retrace how an ordinary city of the ancient southern Levant became the holy city of Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

Here are a few links to Jerusalem-related websites I maintain:

Holy City: Jerusalem in Time, Space and the Imagination. A College of Arts and Sciences course (CASRN220)

Jerusalem in Time: an interactive timeline.

Unholycity.blogspot.com: a blog on issues related to the holy city today.
