Apple Picking with The Word and Way Society

This past weekend, the Word and Way Society took a group of eight students apple picking at Honeypot Hill Orchard. For many of the students, this was their first experience at an orchard.

Travel to and from the orchard was marked by outbursts of song in the van. ‘Twas quite the Core sing-along. The day began with a hayride and then the students dispersed to hunt down their elusive prey, malus domestica. Among their quarry, students found Honey Crisp, Cortland, Macintosh, and more. After lunch, the group decided to procure a typical New England snack, apple cider donuts. The line was immensely long, but like Penelope awaiting Odysseus, the students endured. With apples and donuts in hand, the students returned home, looking forward to their next adventure. Check out the full collection of photos on Core’s Facebook page!
